Cyber Chase

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, C4ADS will discuss how the organized criminal networks operating scam compounds are weaponizing AI-powered tools and software to increase the scale and efficacy of cyber scams.
Between 2021 and 2024, reported losses to fraud in the U.S. more than doubled, reaching $12.5 billion, with online scams representing a substantial portion of that total. Scam compounds distributed across Southeast Asia, largely run by Chinese organized crime groups and staffed by victims of human trafficking, are utilizing emerging technologies to increase the success of these operations. Scammers are rapidly adopting and implementing easily accessible AI tools and other emerging technologies, including ChatGPT, Google Translate, and DeepL, to overcome language barriers, enhance their technical abilities, and reach more targets. Join analyst and Hot Lines author Michael Di Girolamo as he unpacks insights gleaned from publicly available information to demonstrate how scams and the criminals behind them are adapting to continuously increase the success of their operations.
