John Arterbury
Before joining C4ADS as Program Director for State Sponsored Threats, John managed research efforts focusing on security issues in Europe and Africa for Navanti Group. He has has also worked as a freelance journalist and researcher covering issues of conflict and migration, using open-source research techniques to track and understand developments in complex environments like Syria, Myanmar, and the South Caucasus. Prior to this, he oversaw an employment program for asylum seekers and refugees in Houston.
John holds an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in history from the University of Houston, where he edited the student newspaper, The Daily Cougar. He is excited to now be helping C4ADS in its mission of untangling some of the most complicated and impactful issues facing international security.
