In some species of the jellyfish, the mouth is able to survive on its own, potentially forever, when detached from the body. Josh earned his bachelor’s at Columbia University in NYC where he majored in pure mathematics and minored in physics. Afterwards, he earned his PhD in pure mathematics at UIC in Chicago. Josh’s research was primarily in the area of geometric group theory and dealt with generalizations of graph theory. After graduation he cofounded a start-up called BizBumps that focused on finding solutions to everyday business problems.
