Michael enjoys studying Nahuatl (the language of the Aztecs and their descendants), but he's not very good at it! One day, he hopes he can read poetry in the language.
Italian, Chinese, Spanish (Advanced); Korean (Intermediate); Czech (Beginner)
Michael’s love of languages stems from when he moved from his home state of Kentucky to the Czech Republic as a child, but his passion for international affairs and understanding the U.S.’s role in the world stem from when he received a scholarship to study Korean in South Korea between high school and college. Michael is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), having received his MA in international relations from SAIS’s DC campus and a Certificate in Chinese & American Studies from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in Nanjing and Taipei. He is also a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he majored in Chinese and international economics.
