Yvonne Yew

Yvonne Yew is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies. Yvonne was most recently appointed by the United Nations Secretary General to the DPRK Panel of Experts established under the Security Council, where she served her full five-year term. She was the Panel’s maritime issues expert, later also serving as its acting Coordinator. In that capacity, she was principal briefer to governments, international organizations and the private sector. As the maritime lead, Yvonne’s work married cutting-edge technology tools to traditional investigative and analysis techniques.
Yvonne has close to 30 years of experience in non-proliferation and regional security issues in government, international organizations and academia. She began her career at the Singapore Foreign Ministry and held responsibilities for non-proliferation, counter proliferation, disarmament and regional integration issues during her tenure. Her last posting was as Singapore’s Alternate Permanent Representative and Deputy Governor to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. At the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty’s Provisional Technical Secretariat, Yvonne coordinated the International Scientific Studies project, dealing with verification and outreach activities. She was a fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and was a member of the Korea Working Group at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Yvonne is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration, in Paris, France, and the National University of Singapore.
