The Bottom Line Up Front

C4ADS launches Bring Your Own Data (BYOD) on Horizons, enabling users to upload their own files and search them alongside 3+ billion public records in one private, access-controlled workspace.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — C4ADS today announced the launch of Bring Your Own Data (BYOD) on Horizons, our flagship investigative software platform.

At C4ADS, we know that most investigations don’t start with Horizons — they start with the files that an investigator already has, whether that means a partner’s spreadsheet, a stack of FOIA documents, or a list of entities to check. Until now, that material lived outside Horizons, and each search meant moving back-and-forth between tools to piece results together.

Not anymore. BYOD closes that gap by allowing users to upload their own CSVs, Excel files, PDFs, Word documents, images, and other file types directly into Horizons, where they instantly become searchable alongside more than three billion curated records spanning over 1,000 datasets and more than 175 jurisdictions.

Users can organize and securely share uploaded files within Investigations while maintaining full ownership and control. Files remain private by default, are never used to train AI models, and can be deleted at any time.

“We built BYOD to feel simple on the surface, even though a lot of engineering went into making sure private and public data could work together seamlessly. That’s the kind of problem our team loves solving,” said Justin Quick, Head of Software at C4ADS.

BYOD is available starting today to all existing Horizons users, with support for 16 file formats and automatic OCR processing for scanned documents, evolving Horizons from a search and discovery platform into a more robust investigative operating layer.

Horizons is available at no cost to trusted partners on a needs-based basis. To learn more about the platform and/or request access, please click here or reach out to us at [email protected]. For any related media inquiries, please email [email protected].
